About the project

Captured in Turkey and awarded First Place in the 2022 Portrait Photography Competition at International Burch University, this photograph captures an authentic moment between a mother and her child. The child's direct gaze, contrasted with the mother's turned profile, creates a quiet yet powerful narrative of innocence, protection, and human connection.

Presented in black and white, the image emphasizes emotion, texture, and light, allowing the expressions and relationship between the subjects to take center stage. The composition was intentionally framed to draw attention to the child's eyes, while the mother's embrace reinforces a sense of warmth, care, and security.

Winning this competition marked an important milestone in my photography journey and reflects my passion for documentary and portrait photography
